Very cool! I'm just starting to dive into enameling and am having fun!

Now this is crazy! Is it a broach / pin idea? I think it looks very insect-like.

With the enamel, is it just put into the grooves and stuff in the metal and then heated or how is that portion done?

This looks like something out of my metals class, but much more refined and polished! Great job on the piece!

The enamel is done by starting with a plain piece of copper in the shape you want, then the enamel (which comes as a powder) is put on top. You use thin silver wire to divide up colors or areas. Then you melt it in the kiln. Then you set it in the piece using a bezel (a copper band that's folded over the edges) to hold it in place.

I don't have the attachments for it to be a pin or brooch, though I could add them to it later. This piece is actually kindof big.
